Inspiration

Prometheus is a Classical, Greek Titan from Ancient, Mythology who is held responsible for creating and helping humanity in its earliest days. He challenged the Greek Gods by taking Fire from them, subsequently giving it to humanity in the form of Technology, Knowledge, and, more broadly, Civilisation. In some versions of the myths, Prometheus is also associated with creating humanity from clay. He is known for his Intelligence, his Championship, and is generally regarded as the Author or Creator of the Arts and Sciences. This makes him an excellent name for the Prometheus Foundation. In other versions of the myth, Prometheus is also associated with creating humanity from clay. The Prometheus Foundation does and/or archives the following:

Promoting, encouraging, and preserving the Creative Industry in general, and Editorial-, Journalistic-, Documentary- and Stock Photography (Visual Storytelling) in particular, including all other associated visual work and forms of expression, in all available, lawfully ways, with an emphasis on both technical and content quality, as well as originality, professionalism, innovation, and narrative depth. We aim to work with Content Creators Interests op Top of our Minds. 

Supporting the aforementioned creators, in the Netherlands, the Benelux, and Europe (to begin with), in creating their work and practicing their profession, in the broadest sense of the word, with a focus on professional creators who have mental, psychological, or/or other vulnerabilities and are in a financially risky situation. In doing so, the ethical principles and standards applicable in the specific fields are instructed and observed.

The foundation aims to achieve its goals by offering, or at least making available, specific services to photojournalists and documentary photographers, such as sales channels, copyright infringements services, work budgets and publication channels, on a non-profit basis for the foundation itself. These services also include portfolio reviews, mentoring, workshops, lectures, and support with photo and license sales. Specifically, the foundation is considering and working on:

• Work Funds

Current Status
